Hiawatha was a Native American leader and one of the key figures associated with the founding of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, known as the Iroquois Confederacy. According to Haudenosaunee oral tradition, he worked alongside The Great Peacemaker to unite several warring nations into a single alliance dedicated to peace, cooperation, and shared governance.
