“Be water, my friend.”

Bruce Lee  李振藩 was far more than a martial arts icon he was a revolutionary thinker who transformed the way the world viewed combat, discipline, and self-expression. As a fighter, he believed true strength came not only from physical ability but from mental focus, adaptability, and self-mastery. His philosophy of “be like water” became legendary because it reflected the way he approached both martial arts and life itself. Through his creation of Jeet Kune Do, Bruce Lee broke away from rigid traditions and encouraged fighters to move freely, think independently, and evolve beyond limitations. On screen, his electrifying presence in films like Enter the Dragon and The Way of the Dragon made him an international superstar, introducing martial arts cinema to audiences around the world with unmatched charisma, speed, and intensity.

Beyond the spotlight, Bruce Lee was also a devoted family man whose love for his wife and children remained at the center of his life. Despite his fame and demanding career, he valued loyalty, unity, and personal growth within his family. He inspired those closest to him through his relentless work ethic, intelligence, and determination to rise above barriers during a time when Asian actors were often limited in Hollywood. 

Bruce Lee’s legacy continues to live on not only through his films and martial arts philosophy, but through the example he set as a husband, father, and visionary whose influence still inspires generations across the world for this reason I decided to do a tribute painting so his legacy lives on and people can see him. As a child I watched all his movies and was very sad to see him pass away because I looked up to him for wisdom and bravery.  Bruce Lee is still a cultural icon, and the most influential martial artist of all time. In 1999, TIME named him one of the most influential figures of the 20th century. "Fight" is for you Bruce!
